I have heard from many, that “the main thing is to sing with your heart”. Of course, no audience wants to hear a singer without emotions. However, a musician can express his feelings during a performance much better, if he can concentrate fully on the emotions without being constantly distracted by overcoming technical difficulties.
The conclusion from this: first of all, every musician has to master his instrument – and the singers are no exception, since the voice is a musical instrument as well.
Everyone has probably heard the saying: "Easy came, easy go". That' s totally true, when it comes to singing. Many singers have a natural talent for singing. But without a solid singing technique, consideration of age-related changes of the body and stress, only very few singers can continue to sing by their natural feeling for the rest of their lives without any change or damage.
I know a lot of professional singers, who had a very long singing career without having a “special voice”. They had only one advantage over those, who had great singing skills, but needed to end their great career far too early: the right singing technique. Fortunately, their singing teacher taught them well.
